Las Vegas is known for being the entertainment capital of the world and whether you are a local or welcomed guest one thing is for certain, this city never disappoints! There is a wide range of shows to choose from, but did you know that you could see a popular Broadway musical or enlighten your senses with the melodic sounds of Beethoven? All of this and more is offered at the Smith Center.
The Smith Center is a performing arts center which is located approximately 5 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. While membership is available, single ticket purchases are an option via the website, by phone, and in person. If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas I would advise checking the schedule and purchasing tickets in advance of your arrival as they do sell out quickly! One such show is Hamilton. The popularity of Hamilton has not slowed down and when this show, in particular, is on schedule for performances at the Smith Center, they sell out months in advance! While I was not successful in scoring tickets to that particular show run, I did get to see another highly popular Broadway hit, Wicked. The acoustics in the theatre are astounding and the entire venue is simply breathtaking! If you are planning an upcoming trip, listed below are just a few shows and musical concerts which are scheduled for 2021*:
- TOOTSIE - Mar 30, 2021 - Apr 4, 2021
- DISNEY'S FROZEN - Apr 28, 2021 - May 9, 2021
- TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD - Jun 15, 2021 - Jun 20, 2021
- MY FAIR LADY - Jul 13, 2021 - Jul 18, 2021
- BOZ SCAGGS: OUT OF THE BLUES TOUR - Jun 12, 2021
- EDMUND BAGNELL: HE PLAYS THE VIOLIN! - Jun 5, 2021
- KANSAS: POINT OF KNOW RETURN TOUR - May 28, 2021
Currently closed for 2020, as the entire performing arts community is temporarily paused across the country, you may still visit and enjoy outdoor elements of the Smith Center! The architecture of the buildings is exquisite including the 17-story tall bell tower which rings throughout the day! As you walk around the campus you will appreciate the art deco design aspects of the buildings as you tour the outsides of Reynolds Hall & Boman Pavilion. Adjacent to the Smith Center is Symphony Park. Symphony Park is 2-acres of serenity and here you can explore the many outdoor sculptures, which also include information on the artists or just sit back and relax. For 2021 however, let’s take a look at that Smith Center of Performing Arts Calendar of events and get our tickets for the must-see shows before they are all gone!
